Tacoma Museum Unveils D.B. Cooper's Infamous Parachute
Tacoma, WA — The long-mysterious parachute used by the infamous D.B. Cooper has been unveiled at the Museum of Tacoma, marking a major highlight in the city’s latest exhibit on one of the 20th century’s most notorious criminals.
The parachute, which was famously used by the elusive hijacker in his daring 1971 escape, has been a subject of intrigue and speculation for decades. Cooper, whose real identity remains unknown, vanished into the night after extorting $200,000 from a Northwest Orient Airlines flight, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions and theories about his fate.
The museum’s new exhibit, "Skyfall: The D.B. Cooper Mystery," offers an in-depth look at the case, featuring the parachute as a centerpiece. Displayed in a climate-controlled glass case, the parachute is accompanied by a collection of artifacts, documents, and interactive displays that delve into the mystery surrounding Cooper’s identity and his ultimate fate.
Curator Emma Reynolds stated, “The parachute is not just an artifact; it’s a symbol of one of the most fascinating and unresolved cases in American criminal history. By showcasing it, we hope to reignite interest and encourage new theories and discussions about what really happened that fateful night.”
Visitors to the museum have been captivated by the display, with many speculating about the parachute’s role in Cooper’s escape and whether it could hold clues to his identity. The exhibit also includes a timeline of the hijacking, interviews with experts, and a re-creation of Cooper’s notorious skyjacking.
The museum, which has seen a surge in visitors since the exhibit’s opening, plans to host a series of lectures and panel discussions exploring the enduring mystery of D.B. Cooper. The exhibit will be on display through the end of the year, offering a rare glimpse into the enigmatic world of one of America’s most elusive fugitives.

Non Profit with Local Ties Raises $1.1million Over the Weekend
You may have noticed the glitz and glam around the LeMay Car Museum this past Saturday as America's Automotive Trust held their 12th Annual Wheels and Heels Gala in town. Our local museum hosted over 300 guests who flew in from all around the world to experience an evening of "celebrating the heritage, evolution and future" of the automobile and its industry.
While the guests in attendance were raising their paddles for luxurious vacations, wine dinners, artwork and even a few one-of-a-kind cars, they showed their incredible giving. The money raised helps to fund the mission and vision of America's Automotive Trust (AAT) and it's entities, the LeMay Museum being one, to preserve car history and culture for future generations to experience and appreciate. They also create educational opportunities for students and provides future automotive apprentices and restorers with much needed grants and scholarships. This money helps aid them in their journey to a career in keeping the automotive industry alive and running.
The LeMay Car Museum continues to be the repository of the AAT collection as well as serves as a gathering place for the public, presenting exhibitions and educational programs for enthusiasts. It also works closely with the local public schools in STEM education efforts where some of that money is poured back into our community.
